Sunny’s journey began indoors, where he lived with three young kittens and their mother. Tragically, this little family was abandoned when their owner decided they were no longer wanted. The owner reached out, saying that if we wanted to save them, we needed to come immediately. Amanda, a friend and fellow rescuer, sprang into action, vetting them and bringing them to us.

 

Once he was safe, we realized Sunny was facing a battle with panleukopenia, a rescuer’s worst nightmare. The path to recovery was long, demanding everything we had to help him pull through. But Sunny proved his strength, defying the odds with his resilient spirit and coming out stronger. He truly kicked butt and emerged victorious, showing us just how brave he was.

 

Now, however, Sunny faces another challenge, and this one is deeply concerning. He’s been struggling with neurological issues—his walk is unsteady, his left side is weak, and his head shakes. What’s even more heartbreaking is that his unsteadiness is progressively getting worse, making it clear we need to act fast to understand what’s happening.

 

Bloodwork is the first step to see if he can safely undergo anesthesia for an MRI, and beyond that, further testing will help us identify the root cause of his struggles. With the right medical support, we hold onto hope that we can stop this in its tracks and help Sunny get back to the life he deserves.

 

Sunny’s journey is a testament to the strength of the vulnerable and the power of compassion. He has overcome so much already, and now he needs a community of caring people to help him through his toughest battle yet, so he can finally enjoy a healthy, happy life.
